My name is Saki Kawamura. I am from a small town in Japan and moved to Saskatoon three years ago. Recently I was encouraged to sell my handmade traditional Japanese paper-cutting pictures, called "kirie" in Japanese. I enjoy creating kirie of beautiful women wearing traditional Japanese kimonos as well as other things from Japanese culture. First I sketch and ink the picture, then I cut out the details by hand using a fine blade. I use Japanese decorative paper to bring color and life to the picture. I really enjoy making them and sharing both the art and Japanese culture with everyone.
